The second edition of the popular Emergency Characterization of Unknown Materials was released November 30, 2020, by publisher Taylor and Francis.

Houghtons, Inc. President Bill Bennett joins first edition author Rick Houghton with updated material and new content that includes NFPA 472 updates, A-series (fourth generation) nerve agents, high-pressure mass spectrometry, and an entire new chapter titled “Techniques.” This new chapter contains advanced operator tips for Raman, FTIR, and high-pressure mass spectroscopy, including sample manipulation, robotic sample collection, and a simple but effective sampling tool
